Alpha's Realm Nationhood

Nations are political entities that players can work together to form. Nations allow groups of players to claim land as their own, as well as to role play and fight wars that would otherwise be considered griefing. Though players are given a lot of latitude to play how they like, there are certain guidelines players must follow if they wish to be given and to retain the special privliges afforded to nations.

This page lists those guidelines, as well as how they are created and how to appeal them. While on past servers the political rules were strict and inflexible, in Alpha's Realm they are somewhat more flexible. The below guidelines are subject to interpretation and change by a group (the Politbüro) of players (political officers). The Politbüro can also create exceptions, though they do so sparingly. This system, though centralizing power, allows for rapid and fair responses to new situations and will provide for a better political experience on the server.

=====The Politbüro and Political Officers=====

The Politbüro is comprised of

The Politbüro has the authority and responsiblity to alter or interpret any political rule as necessary.

They are also able to veto and change most, if not all, decisions in the realm of politics in order to bring them more in line with their vision of politics as defined by the guidelines on this page. Officers may act independently with the full authority of the Politbüro, but if any officer disagrees with the decision of any other, there will be a vote with the majority either supporting or overturning the original decision.

Independent Settlements

Independent Settlements are made up of one or more players that have decided to build together under one name. Settlements are independent entitites tied to their builder(s) and are not part of political play.

Disputes between independent settlements are mediated by the mods, unless all parties involved agree to resolve the matter by themselves.

Nations

Nations are the foundation of political play on the server. They are comprised of groups of players who have decided to enter the political sphere of the server under one banner. Nations are political entitites that must follow certain guidelines and meet certain requirements in order to exist.

Requirements to Become and Stay a Nation

If a nation's Clan becomes inactive, or if its member numbers drops below the threshold for maintaining nationhood, the nation is considered dissolved. Nations may also voluntarily choose to revert to settlements with the approval of the politbüro, however they must be at peace.
If at any time a political officer deems these requirements to not be met, the politbüro may vote to dissolve a nation into a settlement.

Preconditions to Nationhood

Conditions of maintaining Nationhood

Privileges of Being a Nation

Responsibilities of a Nation

Players may leave their nation and revert to apolitical status at any time, but depending on the circumstances the politbüro may ban them from future nationplay for any length of time.

City States

In response to lower player counts, the political officers have created City States as an intermediary between Settlement and Nation. City States are inherently political, like nations, but they only require three players to found, and they are bound to settlement rules for claiming clay. Concretely, this means:

Preconditions to City Statehood

Conditions of maintaining City Statehood

Privileges of Being a City State

Responsibilities of a City State

Rules for claiming clay as a City State

PVP Rules

The Nationplay PVP Rules describe how PVP is handled between nations.

Any violation of the Rules will lead to the offender's suspension.

Politik Accords

The Politik Accords describe any additions to these rules by the Politbüro and any rulings made about the current rules that may be looked to for future rulings.
