The Greater Pan-Asian Meritocracy is a former Oceanian nation.

In the wake of omgmac's abandoning the server, te3 taking over the role of God-Emperor and the beginning of a new age in Oceania, the few remaining active members of The Great Pan-Asian Meritocracy of the Tri-Isles of 1.8 decided to find a new territory to settle into.

Tefal set out on a boat during the very first days of Oceania as Sheep Island was being built and sailed for a while past the settled islands until he found a small archipelago of three isles reminiscent of the Tri-Isles of old. There, the second Tri-Isles were founded, Kappa Island was hollowed out to make a farm and the pagoda was built on Tengu Island. The GAM was back, but several members of it split off and founded the Noble Republic of Tora to the frustration of the Meritocracy. Tora was to be seen as a rival nation for a long while.

Several players then joined the nation, but a lot of them turned out to be cave dwellers. Due to the general lack of motivation in building the Isles, the relatively small population of surface builders and the long wait for the server update to 1.2, the archipelago was left in an unfinished and chaotic state.

To concentrate their efforts into a somewhat-more planned project, the city of Eien-kyo was founded by the GAM east of the archipelago on its mainland of Nova Sibiry at the beginning of March 2012.

The new GAM city was meant as an attempt at more Ordnung and a challenge to the rival Noble Republic of Tora in massive Asian-styled autism. Upon its founding, the server's population had been drastically reduced by the wait for the update to 1.2. MystiaLorelei and Tefal delimited the city's territory and laid down its streets, which attracted early interest from several players including Koentinius.

The early builders of Eien-Kyō started putting together what is meant to eventually become the new capital of the GAM on a nearly dead-quiet server, welcoming the odd passing visitor once in a while.

The server update to 1.2 brought back players, some of which decided to settle or build in Eien-Kyō. The population of the GAM and the build rate in its new city increased massively with the Isles themselves and other territories of the GAM staying mostly unchanged. The challenge to the Torans stayed mostly unnoticed as they were not seen on the server after the update.

Bored players who missed the wars of the previous worlds founded the Katten Khanate, which promptly attacked and griefed Tora, the Tri-Isles and Eien-kyō in the opening battles of the Mongol Wars, breaking every single one of the International Rules of Engagement in the process (this is disputed.) The GAM and Tora, united against a common enemy, settled their differences, fought together against the invasion and suffered heavy defeat.

The battles led to massive butthurt from all the sides involved. It took divine intervention to roll back the damage and ban the invaders.

As of July 15th, the GAM and Tora reunited under the rule of the Greater Toran Empire. This was decided peacefully by the last GAM noble, Rosenmann. The GAM cities of the Tri-Isles and Eien-Kyo formally became part of the Toran Empire. With the Declaration of Independence issued by the last former GAM citizen Enton and supported by the former GAM Empress MystiaLorelei, the former GAM cities of the Tri-Isles and Eien-Kyo have become separate settlements, and therefore, no longer form ANY PART of the so-called “Greater Toran Empire”. Enton is now ruler and owner of Eien-Kyo, while the original settlement of the Tri-Isles is now property of MystiaLorelei, Ex-Empress of the Second GAM, and it's rightful ruler.

The original archipelago of the Tri-Isles is surrounded by mind-boggling amounts of water in all directions but the east, where the continent of Nova Sibiry lies at some distance. Nova Sibiry is delimited by several rivers beyond which lies mostly-unsettled land, as the entire nation lies on the east frontier of the known map. Northeast of Nova Sibiry lies a jungle biome on which the GAM has a claim.

The main territory of the GAM is surrounded by the isle of u_wot_m8 some distance south of the mainland, Kaskala and HURRLAND to the south-east, various islands claimed by PennerHubert, the mushroom-biome island of te3 to the west and Engieh's unnamed settlement with Greek architecture to the north. Most of civilization otherwise lies south-west of the Isles with the exception of Badface to the south.

Traditionally of small-scale and autonomous nature. With the founding of Eien-Kyo, the GAM has begun large scale exploitation of the mineral wealth under the main continent. A mine was established, which was soon found to be rich in minerals, from there, the vast majority of the GAM wealth has been extracted. The GAM is for the most part self-sufficient, doing little trading with the (largely non-existent) Oceanian population, believing that it is best to rely solely on its own.

The prevalent religion among GAM citizens is a combination of Shinto and Pure Land Chicken Buddhism. The latter is an offshot of the Chicken Buddhism practiced by the inhabitants of the GAM of 1.8 loosely based around the idea of The Buddha having reincarnated as a chicken who lived in the original Tri-Isles with the added ideology that reciting the appropriate mantras (most of them involving Notch, Greebers and teleport requests) will guide one to a place of higher Ordnung.

Practitioners of Pure Land Chicken Buddhism do not regard chickens as particularly sacred and do not hesitate to eat them, on the contrary. Chickens and melons are looked upon favorably as nature's two greatest gifts and appropriate worship of those gifts consists in joyously stuffing oneself with both, which evidently comes from Shinto.

Ronery, although cozy. The Tri-Isles lie far from the bustle of larger nations and have been so far spared any of the accompanying drama, so life there is relatively quiet. As the Isles do not particularly lie on the way to anything else and constitute the eastern frontier of the map, visitors are relatively rare, though an inn has been built to accomodate those who come.

With each member of the community pursuing their own interests and some living underground, entire groups of the population only meet infrequently. When they do, a current favorite for chilling out is the bathhouse on Kanto Island. Due to the relatively easy-going lifestyle of its inhabitants, development in the Isles is relatively slow.

The continent of Nova Sibiry is so far mostly uninhabited but for the small states of Lambda, Eisenbach, and the and the city of Eien-kyo. It is hoped that the developement of Eien-Kyou will bring life to those rich lands, as a large unsettled landmass lies beyond Nova Sibiry on which several nations could exist without lacking space.

Eien-Kyō itself is in a permanent state of construction. There are few residences and the population mostly engages in building.

Being a meritocracy (literally; rule by merit), all posts and titles are given to/held by those deemed to be the most fitting by their peers. Whether a person exhibits a honest character, truthful nature or an unbreakable will, they will find themselves with an occupation which fits their specific talents. This practice keeps corruption virtually non-existent, and ensures a high moral standard both among civil servants and self-employed inhabitants.

MystiaLorelei, as Empress, acts as head of state and represents the nation in external matters. Tefal, officially Shogun, handles the engineering. Both plan some of the larger builds.

Aside from the situations where leadership is required, most of the GAM otherwise runs in a self-organized, informal manner.

The main GAM territory is constituted of The Tri-Isles archipelago and several smaller islets off the coast of the mainland, a group of landmasses separated by rivers named Nova Sibiry. The independent settlement of Lambda (green) also lies on the mainland, entirely within the confines of the GAM's main territory.

After the update to 1.2.5. the GAM seeked to expand to the nearest jungle, so on the 4th of April, the empress set off far from Nova Sibiry to find and claim new clay. She found a huge jungle North-East of the mainland which she quickly clamed for the GAM.

The GAM had two overseas territories:

• Harcourt's: a middle-sized snow-biome island south of the main territory.
• Birch Island: another middle-sized, mountainous and heavily forested island north of the main territory.
